2008 Festival of Hope Honorees


HeartLine is pleased to announce the selection of the following Honorees for recognition in connection with Festival of Hope 2008:

These Honorees were selected for having given selflessly through their profession or volunteerism and contributing to improved quality of life for people in Central Oklahoma.

They will be honored at HeartLine’s Festival of Hope 2008 Evening of Acclamation and Admiration on August 22, at the historic Skirvin Hilton Hotel. 
 

2008 Audrey Hatley Award 
 


HeartLine, Central Oklahoma’s Community Connection, is proud to recognize a school district that has enhanced the quality of health and safety education by incorporating a suicide prevention/awareness, mental health, depression screening, substance abuse, school violence, or other health and safety-related program into their school year.    Jefferson Middle School will be honored at the Festival of Hope 2008 Dinner, An Evening of Acclamation and Admiration on August 22, 2008. Festival of Hope celebrates the power hope brings to people through HeartLine’s programs, while recognizing the efforts of community leaders and schools who improve quality of life in Central Oklahoma.
 
HeartLine’s youth suicide prevention program, Healthy Education for Life (HELP) is reaching thousands of teens and making a difference to detect the warning signs of suicide and self-harm in order to save lives.  Students are touched by the story of Audrey Hatley, a fourteen-year-old girl who completed suicide.  Audrey’s mother speaks in the HELP video-based presentation about the loss of her daughter, the friend who noticed the warning signs, and implores youth to get help for their friends who may be depressed or suicidal.
